Radio Free SoDo is here for only one reason – discovering great new music. We don’t accept advertising anymore and we’re not trying to sell anyone anything. We’re both a webzine and a “barely legal” micro-power radio broadcast based out of a 100 year old converted warehouse in downtown Seattle, Washington. We’re 100% independent and are managed and produced 100% by… and for… music lovers.
At Radio Free SoDo, we’re passionate (some might say obsessed) about our music. We love to research and learn more about it every day. We love to talk about music and share what we’ve learned with our listeners & readers. We definitely love to experience it live whenever possible, but most all we just love to listen to it. That’s what this is all about, really, just an excuse to surround ourselves and our daily lives with the one thing that we all have in common: a passion for the music.
Radio Free SoDo is probably more upper-left coast focused than the national gigs. We’re no homers, but that stretch of I-5 from Vancouver to Portland just continues to produce a ridiculous amount of great music. We play and write about any great new music that comes over the airwaves, through the net, or into our local record shop from anywhere in the world.
We’re not sure if the broadcasts supports the website or vice-versa; it’s pretty symbiotic really, and it gives us two very different outlets to share our love for music with others.
Welcome to Radio Free SoDo. I like it here, and I want to hear what you think. Know of a great new band that we should be covering? See an amazing live performance recently? Got a great story about music? Is part of the website not functioning properly? Tell us about it. We really do want to hear from you and we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to reach out to us, however you prefer, via the form below or on Twitter or Facebook, or just click on that little “Clue Us In+” link on the top of any page. That goes straight to me. I do receive a lot of emails, so I ask for your patience – I promise to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Cheers.

media submission guidelines
If you’d like your music featured on Radio Free Sodo or are just trying to get the word out, feel free to drop us a line. We’re always on the lookout for new music. We do prefer to keep all submissions digital, so downloadable or streaming access is totally cool. There are some great guidelines on how to get your music heard & what should/shouldn’t be included in a submission here, here and here. Probably worth taking a peak.
Please, before throwing a promo CD and press packet into the mail, first take a moment to check out what types of music we cover. Hardcore? Western? House? Free-form jazz? Probably not going to be doing anyone any good to send it our way and you’d better off expending your resources in some other direction. If we’ve requested a copy of a release, it’s because we’ve liked what we’ve heard so far but want to hear more and are planning a feature article about the release.
We’re always interested in promoting great bands and artists via giveaways on Radio Free Sodo, so if we’ve ever mentioned your band here & you want to toss a t-shirt or a pair of tickets to your upcoming show this way for us to give away to our readers, bring it on. We’ll be happy to do a giveaway on a social network or our site.
All submissions and questions should be sent to music@radiofreesodo.com.

Our intention is to provide our friends and readers with a destination to discover new and exciting music. Period. We take every precaution available to us given current technologies to allow our readers to stream new music while maintaining the security necessary to avoid illegal downloading of that music, unless that is the intention of the artist. If you are an artist or represent an artist that we are promoting on Radio Free Sodo and prefer that we remove your music, simply let us know and we will gladly remove it.
