Sneak Peek at Lemolo’s debut LP
Here’s our first taste of The Kaleidoscope, the upcoming debut release from Seattle dream-pop duo Lemolo. The new LP drops July 3 & is definitely one of our most highly anticipated local releases of 2012. “On Again, Off Again” has been a staple in their live shows for a while now and a couple HQ live versions have been floating around the interwebs courtesy of KEXP & Sound on the Sound, but the full-on studio treatment on this track takes it to a whole new level. Those added layers & complexity have me just drooling all over my sunburn to hear what they’ve done with some of the other tunes that we only know from their live shows. Lovin’ the addition of the backing vocals!
Lemolo’s powerful but feminine sound is pretty unique… equal parts Beach House and Phantogram at 3 a.m. but more simplistic than either. I didn’t say simple… and it’s not. It’s more grounded. We first took note of the ladies at last summer’s Doe Bay Fest lineup party & shot a little video of their amazing performance of “Whale Song” in the sultry Doe Bay yoga studio that seems to have been pretty well received. Since then, it seems like every media outlet in town has come to realize that these young ladies are really something special. Being named one of Seattle Magazine’s Best New Seattle Bands of 2011 helped out with that, as did opening gigs for The Head and the Heart on a west coast tour.
The June 29th album release show for The Kaleidoscope (w/Kaylee Cole & Lost Lander) sold out in just a few hours and Lemolo has added a second show the following night with Radiation City opening. Both shows will be at the Columbia City Theater & tickets for the June 30th show are still available as of right now. Go snag a couple, quick!
Lemolo is Meagan Grandall on vocals, piano & guitar and Kendra Cox on drums & piano.

Saw these two in the Doe Bay Fest documentary last night & recognized them from this here. Thanks for all the new music discoveries!
I was there, Ashley… you should send me an email when you go to these things, we had an extra ticket!
love Lemolo!
Big, fat love for Lemolo!!
There’s something special in their live performances that doesn’t really come across in the recorded versions. The energy & the charm, I guess. Know what I mean?
Absolutely. I was just talking about that a couple of days ago with Mrs. RFS. I think it's Kendra's energy on the drums that always catches me off guard.
